Watch Raquel Welch try to seduce Fozzie Bear, watch Sly Stallone yuck it up with Kermit, and catch rock icon Alice Cooper freak out the gang with dark moments and puppet devils. You can even catch an appearance by gay icon Liberace.
The DVD season includes great bonus features. The vintage special "Muppets on Puppets" offers a step back through times to the early days of Jim Henson’s puppeteers. The one-hour special from 1969 features Rowlf and a young Jim Henson and his team explaining the history of puppets and the magic behind the Muppets. It covers everything from how they are made, how they move, and in-depth interviews with the team including vocal whiz Frank Oz.
The DVD also features "A Company of Players" a behind-the-scenes featurette with interviews from the original cast and crew. They offer vintage footage and explain how some of the funny moments made it to the screen. There are also some black and white Purina commercials featuring Rolf and a little dog friend.
If you’re a die-hard Muppet fan you’ll love this DVD set. It’s great to see vintage moments with magic maker Jim Henson. If you’re new to the Muppets it might not be completely entertaining. The variety show feel falls flat occasionally but the hilarious celebrity moments and classic Muppet jokes are worth catching.
